East Coast Cruise 2009 has been and gone, so has most of the after effects (can you say Hangover).
The event this year was run in its usual flawless fashion. What can we say, Chad and the boys have pretty much dialled this show.
Crowd and truck attendance was down on previous years. Generally you can bet any trucks that didn't make it this year will be back next year ready to take names!
ECC has definitely stamped its name as 'The Event'. Why? The police are relaxed about the trucks as long your not ripping up asphalt everywhere, pubs are easy going and the pizza shop is always open for that late night ham and pineapple sandwich!
A few of the locals could take a tip from the cops and squash some of the hometown loyalty bullshit. With pizza in one hand, beer in the other it gets a bit difficult to defend yourself when a few local crew decide it's step up time!
The show this year was cut short due to a wind storm, hell we had to run a discount sale on our discount sale everytime a tee hit the dirt!
All in all the show was a success, the number of finished rides was down on last year, but on the flip side the under construction stuff was up!
Around lunchtime a storm was rolling in, most decided to run for cover and head back to town and hit the pool or whatever….the pool was on my agenda, marco polo anyone?
The Dinner presentation is a firm favourite, security were in check and the beer glass was replaced with beer plastic- hmm pretty sure that decision was based on the leaning tower of schooner glasses from last year. See last years ECC Coverage for that explanation!
Alternative measures were taken to ensure beer plastic got its glory with some crew building a pyramid of beer-pretty rad, but lacked the destruction of crashing glass when it came tumbling down, I'm sure the venue and organisers wouldn't agree!
In the end when all the trophies were handed out and the last of the seemingly never ending freebies was given away, everyone walked away happy, the final words being-see you next year!
