Brad Hage Interview

Slur Destructive has recently signed up and coming rider Brad "Mc Dreamy" Hage… Mc Dreamy-WTF! You"ll have to read on to get the full scope on that! Brad broke onto the FMX Pro scene last year during the RFDmX Underground tour. It took all but 3 hits at the ramp before he had riders and crew asking who the hell he was, us included! He"s an Aussie lad that is as genuine as they come, he lets his riding do the talking but gave up some time for us over a few ales recently.

So Brad tell us a little about yourself, where your from, background and what not?

Well i was born in Port Lincoln (south aussie) in 1984.Its a pretty well known place for the tuna fishing industry. Really nice place, massive sand hills, and great camping. I started riding a 3 wheeler trike when i was 6 which Dad brought for the family. When I was 14 Dad would take me out to the local race track 4 nights a week and there I would do 4- 20 minute motos as hard as I could.

I 'd always finish the day with a smile on my face. The next 4 years I competed in local race days and enduros winning most local and surrounding area events, and then stepped up and competed in state title events and pulling top 5 results consistently . When I was 18 I got offered a job I couldn"t refuse and took the next 3 years off of ridding and went fishing. After having a break I then brought a kx250f and started ridding freestyle with some mates back home.

After 6 months of learning a book load of tricks I wanted to start doing flips, so myself and 3 mates set up a ramp to a sand hill and all landed a flip on the first day, It was the best day ever. Then I went back 2 days later and under rotated a flip and snapped my leg, I was out for 3 months with that and then I got a job that brought me to QLD. So I brought my bike up and went ridding & camping at Black Duck with a mate, and while ridding there for a couple of days we met some great ppl in the freestyle scene and made some good friends.

Ever since that weekend I've been more motivated to improve my riding and to try new things. Up until I broke my foot my riding was flowing forward, and im looking forward to getting back to where I left off, and I hopefully next year my foots healed for the events I want to compete in along side my buddys. Yewwww

Current ride?

KX250F

Let the good times role (haha) So you"re a sunny coast guy now, how is that working out for your riding!

Yeah living up the Sunny Coast i'm a big fan of the laid back lifestyle, Its defiantly harder to go for a ride up here because most places are restricted for riding dirt bikes, but I have a few mates that live close by and have pretty sick compounds and we ride together. Most of the time I go down to Adam Bayards or Boonha and ride with the Brissy & Goldy crew, hahaha its always a laugh.

The only hard part about riding is my job which includes working away for months at a time some times, and that makes riding and keeping up practice hard! Its all good though, it just puts a bit more fire in me to ride harder when i get the opportunity.

Your leg appears a little blue (plaster) dood, whats doing there?

Hahaha certanly is, its the 4th cast ive had since June (Since the break) its been a long 4 months. It was a pretty bad break to my right foot I shattered my tallace in 5 places. The DR's couldnt do much so its got to heal naturally.

I was doing a show in Gin Gin and I miss judged the distance of the ramp and landed way to far down the bottom, me being silly and always running stock suspension finally caught up with me haha. My bike fully compressed out on landing.

Tuff break man, you didn"t hesitate to ride those stairs during that photos shoot recently so im guessing your killing to get back on the bike? Hahaha Yeoww, yer I rode that stair case like a roller coaster on wheels haha well sorta. Yeah I cant wait to get back on the green machine, its gonna be sick. I cant wait to try some new tricks.

Alright tell us about "Mc Dreamy"…haha

McDreamy, Well im not entierly sure how I got the name, I was down at Bayards one day doing some flips and ever since that day the name just stuck. But I think its pretty funny. You'd have to ask Sheppard or Bayard about that one.

Most guys are running a van, the exception being Joel who runs a wombat, how do you get to the track?

Haha yeah the Old Wombat gets a fair workout (LOL) its one stylish pimp ride. Well I was running a F250 and that was sweet for riding trips with the boys and getting to the tracks, but I recently sold it and brought a Toyota Hiace Van which is pretty cool but at the end of the day its no EFFY haha.

What's in your future, any plans?

Well this years a write off with my foot and all, and im really looking forward to getting back into it and doing some riding with the boys. Next year I wanna ride the RFD serious and hopefully Narrogin RevHead's, and see where that takes me.

Thanks for the time buddy!

Thanks guys, shout out to SDC for the support, hope to see everyone else at some events next year….take it easy!
