Todd Back chillin in China
G day fella’s just recently got back from China, was an awesome experience and would love to do it again. The crowd really get into over there they love it, they seem to be amazed with what we do over a jump. I don’t think they are used to seeing someone on a motor bike jump so far. They were also amazed on what bike we were riding because they only have Chinese bikes over there, so for them to see a Yamaha and a Kawasaki would of been like us seeing a Ferrari, they could keep their hands of it. I noticed that they were quite puzzled on the grip tape we had on our bike it was entertaining watching them trying to figure it out. The setup was one of the best I have ridden, if the down ramp is not right you can just tell them bigger till you’re happy. It was hard to communicate with them because of the different language but we were quick to pick up the basic hello and thank you. All in all it was the best trip I have been on to date and would like to do it again, next stop RFDmx round 1 yew!!!!!!

Brad Hage - Tent Life!
I emailed Brad a while back to see what he had been up too, a few weeks had passed with no reply when bing a email popped into my inbox with the subject line “sorry about the late reply I dont have the net in my tent”.

3 months ago I finally got back on the bike after a year off recovering from a broken right tallace. It felt like it took forever for the break to heal, its now finally getting better. I started riding tracks for a month to get my basic bike skills and fitness level back to where it was. After a month of tracks I hit up Adam Grope to go for a ride at his compound to hit up the ramps. After 3 speed runs I was jumping 75 again and it felt like I never had an injury. I did a couple of basic tricks just to get back into the rhythm of things and everything felt good except for 2 things, I needed new suspension and my foot was still aching. So after that ride I was hell keen to put my bike down and get new suspension, but there was one problem I was living in a tent 2.6m x 2.6m in the Berry Caravan Park in SA. I was strapped for room and I didn’t know where I was going to pull my bike down. I thought what the heck I made sum room inside my tent hooked up a flood light and pulled my suspension out over a six pack of jacks. Damn it was cold burrrrrr hahaha.
A week later my suspension was back and I had to get some practice in for an upcoming comp. I took the day off work and went to a mate’s private track to bed my suspension in. The next weekend I took off to a mate 21st to party and also for a ride with the boys down South at Chook Fowleys compound. I did a few dead sailors to get used to my suspension and I left like never had time off Yewww. But there was still a problem my foot was still Aching. A couple of days later I phoned my doc to find out what was going with my foot and how we could fix it. He booked me in to get a cortisone injection in the joint which helped with the majority of the pain. Which gave me the green light to ride in upcoming comps throughout the year.

I cranked my van to Gropeys house a day before the Ponde Freestyle comp to chill there for the night and to head up with him to Ponde in the morning. It was an awesome day catching up with old mates and meeting new people. After the lads fixed the
downy we got into riding but unfortunately I cased it pretty bad on my 2nd practice jump, winding myself and hurting my stomach, so I took my bike back to the van fixed my bent levers regained myself with a little bit of static x and went back out there had a blast with the boys and ended up taking out 1st place. Now I’m really looking forward to the RFD Tour and catching up with all the boys. See you there!

Slur Destructive welcomes Todd Back to its FMX Team
Todd Back is a young Gold Coast lad who’s currently killing it on a dirt bike and is the newest recruit to the ever growing Slur Army. The easy going 22 year old is well known to his fellow riders for his smart, safe and effortless style. Often pinned as the quite achiever Todd wrapped up 4th place in last year’s RFDmx Underground Tour and is generally regarded as one of those riders who just never crashes (well rarely). All this changed recently however when Todd decided it’s time to pull back and now boasts the rights to claim he’s a member of the 75ft flip club. We caught up with Todd to get his thoughts on everything two wheeled.
Toddy first of all welcome to the Slur team, I hear your pretty stoked on the whole deal?
Hey buddy thanks for the welcome glad to be part of the team. You’ve always been labeled as a smooth, safe and I guess conservative rider. What clicked in your head and made you decide its pull back time? Well I guess it’s a dream for every FMX rider to backflip there bike, I got the opportunity to go in a foam pit and couldn’t knock it back and i had to do it before lindores.
You’ve recently been asked to tour overseas to Mongolia with the RFDmx lads, when you first started riding did you ever imagine your dirtbike would be taking you across the globe?
No not at all it’s been my dream for so long to be able to see the world on my dirt bike and i only have the RFDmx boys to thank for that.We hear you’ve got a bit of a “retardedness” when it comes to power tools, care to take us through what happened?
I wouldn’t call it retardedness Rayners I would call it faulty equipment and a bit of bad luck, in the wrong place at the wrong time.Take us through a day in the life of Todd Back, is it all riding and partying, or are you a rider who knows what a hard day’s work feels like?
Well throughout the week I work as a carpenter 6 days and ride on Sundays but also like to have a few cold beverages every now and then.As a proud red head what are your thoughts on the current Prime minister?
Don’t know about proud or red! But don’t really care for who’s running the country as long at the end of the day I can still go for a ride. Why are all red heads so angry?
There is a web site call Google you can look up all of these question’s mate I can’t teach you everything on life.Back on subject, what comps and demos have you got coming up for the rest of the year and do you have any personal goals at them?
I have got a trip overseas with the RFDmx crew in Mongolia then the Under Ground Tour here and maybe Timor again but hoping to pick up some more trips and show’s along the way.We hear Lindores still says he’s going to kick your arse on Underground Tour this year, what are your thoughts on this?
All I have to say is that I flipped 75ft to dirt first buddy and I have that against you for the rest of or lives no matter how many comps you beat me in I will always be the winner. Thanks for your time mate, best of luck for the rest of the year and welcome again to the team, any last shout outs you want to give?
Yer mate would just like to thank all the RFDmx boys that have help me along the way giving me the opportunity to ride in there Underground Tour, Adam Bayard and family for letting me ride his compound whenever we want, Shuie for letting me use his pit, all the boys who help me Flip, Lindores for being a wanker, and slur for putting on the team cheers

Matty Lindores update
I recently caught up with Matty Lindores at a photo shoot to find out why he’s not on his bike but a babe is.
Hey Joel, the last 2 months have been pretty busy until recent; about 3 months ago I decided if I’m going to do anything with this riding game I may as well get onto it as soon as possible. I put my apprenticeship on hold for the time being and started riding everyday getting my tricks sussed out and to try and get my head around this back flip thing. All was going well riding was looking good Barbies were hot, beers were cold and now it was time for the pit. Myself, Matt Smith, Todd Back and Sam Balnaves rang up Schuie and got the ball rolling, everyone was going good there were a few casualties with the odd person landing on their head haha funny to watch. We had a solid 2 days in the pit and everyone has them dialed now the time was up to take it to dirt. Toddy Back was the first one to balls up and nail the thing and done it with a great style, he got 7 around sweet and on his 8th just pulled a bit too hard and over rotated her a bit but walked away from which was good. It was my turn, I was trying to suss out the difference between the ramp to dirt and the ramp to the pit so I was just straight jumping the 75 for awhile and thought I'd do another one in the pit. I remember it like I was riding up the ramp at this present time, pulled as I went off the ramp and knew straight away it was too hard and as I was coming into the pit I was a bike nose high and when I landed my arse hit the sit and I had an instant pain from my lower back all the way up to my neck and was winded could not breath haha wasn't tickling at all. The boys got me out and through me in a car and drove me back to the coast from Boonah which was pretty uncomfortable. I got to the hospital and they smashed me with morphine. I got x rays and I had compressed my spine putting a clean break through my L3 vertebra. So the last 5 weeks it’s just been flat on the back with some movies, boredom and wish I could say girls but that'd be lying haha. I hope to be back on the bike before the RFDmx Underground tour this year and in good form. Still have a further 2-3 weeks on the back and now with physio its feeling pretty good. This won’t stop me from doing the flip though just a minor setback and will hopefully have it to dirt as soon as possible. But now it is pain killer and nap time Joel so I'll leave you with that and keep you updated on slow recovery of my back. Thanks readers have a good one and keep up the beers.
